What we collect

When you join the waitlist:

  • Your email address, the one you type in the form.
  • Your survey answers, if you give them: what you would use carosel for and what you would pay per month.
  • Where you came from: the campaign tags in the link you followed (utm parameters), the website that sent you (for example instagram.com) and which form you used on the page.
  • Approximate location: country and city, as estimated by our hosting provider from your connection. Never your exact position.
  • Device: device type (phone, tablet, computer), operating system, browser or app (for example the Instagram app) and browser language.

When you only visit the page, we count one anonymous visit per browser session with the same source, country, device and browser information, and no email. We use it to know how many visitors join the waitlist.

We do not store your IP address. To block abuse we keep only a one-way fingerprint (hash) of it, which cannot be turned back into the address. We do not use cookies, advertising trackers or analytics services. The page keeps an anonymous session id in your browser's session storage, which is deleted when you close the tab.

Why we collect it

  • To email you about the launch. We send a confirmation right after you join and an email when carosel launches with your early access. We do not send newsletters or sell anything to you through this list. Legal basis: your consent, given when you join.
  • To build the right product. Survey answers, sources and devices tell us who carosel is for and how people find it. We only look at them in aggregate or on the waitlist itself. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding our audience.
  • To prevent abuse, such as automated signups. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

We never sell or rent your data, and we never share it with advertisers.

Who handles it for us

  • Cloudflare hosts the website and the waitlist database (stored in Europe).
  • Resend sends our emails. It receives your email address and the content of the message.

Both act only on our instructions. Some of their processing may happen outside the European Union, under the safeguards required by the GDPR (such as standard contractual clauses).

How long we keep it

We keep your waitlist data until carosel launches and for up to 12 months after the launch email, then we delete it, unless you become a carosel user and agree to new terms. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you right away and delete your data within 30 days. Anonymous visit counts contain no personal data and may be kept longer.

Unsubscribe or delete your data

  • Stop the emails: click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email from us.
  • Delete everything: write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your data. We do it within 30 days and confirm by email.

You can also ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it or object to how we use it, at the same address. If you think we handled your data badly, you can complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the change is important, we will tell you by email.
